Meet the Principal
Hi, I’m Nicky Fammartino and I am honoured to be appointed as Principal at Somerville Rise Primary School as of term 3 2016. It is great to be part of such a talented staff with a clear passion for student wellbeing and educational excellence.
Prior to Somerville Rise I was Principal of Wallaroo Primary School and I enjoy taking a community focused approach to working together to enhance and enrich life opportunities for local children. I have been in Principal class appointments for over 10 years both in Victoria and the Northern Territory and I have a background that includes physical education, classroom teaching, special education, educational coaching, enrichment and wellbeing.
In my spare time I enjoy the great outdoors that the beautiful Mornington Peninsula has to offer with my family. Having a property in Mornington keeps us busy with gardening and caring for animals and we enjoy family holidays in our cabin at Lake Eildon and travelling both within Australia and overseas.
The best part of my job as Principal of Somerville Rise Primary is watching children motivated in and excited about learning. All students have extraordinary gifts and talents and are capable of amazing things given the right nurturing and I feel privileged to have an opportunity to contribute to and be part of this experience.
If you are thinking of enrolling your child at Somerville Rise Primary School please contact the school to arrange a tour.
I look forward to working in partnership with you.
Meet the Assistant Principal
Hi I am Mark Dewhurst and I have been a part of Somerville Rise Primary School since the doors opened for learning back in 1995.
During my time here I have been involved in many different aspects of teaching. I have taught all year levels from Prep to grade 6. This year I have again been appointed the very important role of Assistant Principal. Another area I am very passionate about is Student Wellbeing and I work closely with the students of Somerville Rise Primary School addressing the pressing issues that concern them.
I have 3 children Jack, Lucy, and Amy and a lovely wife Janet. Together we live in Balnarring. In my spare time I really enjoy catching a wave, playing tennis (when I have not injured myself) entertaining family and friends and spending time with my kids.
I look forward to what 2016 brings for the wonderful students of “Somie Rise”.
