Somerville Rise Primary School
Somerville Rise Primary School situated a 10 minute drive from Frankston on the Mornington Peninsula, was first established in 1995 to meet the demands of an increasing population in what was formerly an orchard area. When the land was subdivided and housing established there was a need for a new primary school. The school commenced operation at the start of 1995 and was officially opened in August of that year. It soon grew to a school of over 600 students. Today the student population is approx 320 with an even spread of students across each grade level. Situated on the corner of Blacks Camp Rd and Graf Rd the school has plenty of open space for children to play as well as 3 adventure playgrounds and 4 hard-court areas.
The school borders the secondary college- Somerville SC and a newly developed wetlands reserve. Also close to our school (across the road) is Blacks Camp Pre School which has a close association with our school. At Somerville Rise Primary School we provide a comprehensive curriculum for all students from grades Prep to 6 following the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development DEECD curriculum guidelines – Victorian Essential Learning Standards – VELS. We have a strong focus on environmental education and we are a 5 star sustainable school. This requires our school to be proficient in and have curriculum links with waste management, water management, biodiversity and renewable energy. Our teaching staff are a hardworking group who provide a high standard of care and educational support for each child. We have specialist teachers in Physical Education, ICT, Visual Arts and Performing Arts. In addition our school has a Chaplain who assists with pastoral care.
